Mobile app monitors electric-vehicle battery metrics

Software developer Xatori has released its second mobile application targeted at electric-vehicle owners.
The Apple iOS app for iPhones, iPads and iPod touch devices is called GreenCharge, and it offers features for tracking battery data and metrics. So, for example, an electric-vehicle owner can see how much range is left before a charge is needed; he or she can run analytics on daily, weekly and monthly driving patterns; and the owner can also calculate savings that differentiate electric vehicles from gasoline-powered automobiles.
The application currently synchronizes with data from Nissan LEAF or Chevrolet Volt electric vehicles. The download price is approximately the average cost of electricity for driving an electric vehicle 240 miles (the distance that an average American drives in one week).
Xatori is the same Mountain View, Calif., software developer that create PlugShare, which provides drivers with maps of nearby electric vehicle charging stations.
